Mission and Vision

Oakland Box Theater is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our new venue, 2232 MLK, is a beatiutiful 2500 square foot performing arts center located in Oakland, California.

Oakland Box Theater exists to enhance the cultural and artistic vitality of the San Francisco Bay Area.

2232 MLK and Oakland Box Theater promote, produces and host youth arts and educational programs, theatrical productions, poetry slams, dance performances, LIVE MUSIC, film festivals, community gatherings and visual art exhibitions.

Oakland Box Theater encourages the development of artistic expression that explores contemporary social issues and celebrates a variety of cultural traditions. We believe that creative expression forms the backbone of a healthy, vibrant community.

Oakland Box Theater strives to bring together diverse communities in multicultural collaboration, promoting the social and ecological transformation of our community.
